Find your community in Chemistry as part of the GSFLC

building with a sign that reads chemistryThe Graduate Student-Faculty Liaison Committee (GSFLC) is a group of graduate student, post-doc, and faculty representatives committed to bridging the gap between students and faculty in the Chemistry Department at UW-Madison. The GSFLC hosts events like the annual Snout-Out, departmental colloquia, the spring poster session, the winter cookie bake-off, and summer social hours, which intend to bring these two groups together and offer opportunities to mingle within the Chemistry Department.

More than that, the GSFLC offers opportunities for professional development by awarding travel grants for those presenting their research at conferences and mentor awards to recognize the faculty and students who have helped us become mature researchers. The GSFLC also acts as a voice for change, periodically surveying grad students and postdocs regarding departmental climate and presenting issues and requests from students to faculty members. We continue to work with faculty and staff members to implement initiatives to positively impact our department climate and culture.
